HPL Surfaces vs. Painted Surfaces
At OrgaControl, we use HPL surfaces throughout our Magic Wall, MyKidsCorner, and Magic PlayTable product ranges. All original OrgaControl children’s play systems are finished with HPL, rather than painted or foil-coated surfaces.
For us, this is not simply a design choice. It is a practical material decision for products that are built for daily use in high-traffic environments. In children’s areas, waiting rooms, hospitality settings, and other frequently used spaces, surfaces need to do more than look appealing. They need to remain durable, easy to clean, and visually consistent over time.
Why Choose HPL Instead of Painted Surfaces?
Compared to painted finishes, HPL surfaces offer important practical advantages in everyday use. The laminated surface is highly durable and designed to withstand regular wear. In addition, the decorative layer is protected by a melamine resin laminate, helping to shield the surface from external influences and support long-term performance.
This makes a clear difference in environments where children’s furniture and play systems are used intensively every day. While painted surfaces can be more sensitive to wear, HPL is a dependable solution when long-lasting performance matters.
Built for Everyday Demands
Our HPL surfaces are especially well suited for areas exposed to constant use and frequent contact. Depending on the specific finish, they offer properties such as heat resistance, water resistance, UV resistance, and scratch resistance.
These characteristics make them ideal for commercial and public environments where surfaces are touched, cleaned, and used repeatedly over many years. In these settings, materials are not exposed to occasional stress, but to ongoing everyday demands.
Easy to Clean and Resistant to Many Cleaning Agents
One of the key advantages of HPL is its easy-care surface. Our HPL finishes are simple to clean and maintain, and they are resistant to alcohol, organic solvents, water vapour, and water.
This is especially important in children’s areas and other spaces where regular hygienic cleaning is essential. Where alcohol-based or stronger cleaning agents are used, surface quality plays a critical role. A robust finish helps maintain both appearance and functionality over the long term.
Scratch Resistance That Matters in Practice
In everyday use, children’s play systems are exposed to more than cleaning alone. Hands, toys, clothing, and constant interaction all place stress on the surface. That is why scratch resistance is not a minor detail, but a key quality feature.
Our laminated HPL surfaces are designed to retain their attractive appearance even with long-term use. They help reduce visible signs of wear and support a well-maintained look over time.
A Practical Surface Solution for Children’s Areas
Surfaces in children’s areas need to meet several requirements at once. They should be durable, hygienic, visually appealing, and suitable for intensive daily use. At the same time, they should integrate well into the overall interior design.
This is exactly where HPL offers clear advantages. Alongside its functional performance, it also provides a wide range of design possibilities, including solid colours, wood décors, and custom print décors. This allows us to combine durability, long-term usability, and flexible design in one surface solution.
